Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) is thrilled to announce the appointment of San Joaquin County community leader, Jesús Andrade, as the new Executive Director for IYT’s Central Valley Region. With over a decade of experience working on local and national issues to improve life outcomes for Latino families, Jesús brings a wealth of experience in public service and advocacy, and a deep commitment to educational equity to this vital role. This year, IYT’s Central Valley region will serve 1,200 members and their families across 19 schools and three counties (Merced, Modesto, San Joaquin, and Stockton).
Commenting on the recent appointment, Eric E. Alvarez, Vice Mayor City of Modesto, District 2 stated “Jesús is a product of the Central Valley. His deep-seated understanding of the dynamics, barriers, and opportunities that exist for young men of color, mixed with his leadership background and technical experience, position him for success as IYT’s Executive Director for the Central Valley Region. He is from our community and has our best interest at heart. I look forward to working alongside Jesús in empowering our next generation of leaders.”
Having previously served as CEO of the San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Stockton City Council, Jesús has demonstrated his dedication to community development and advocacy. Additionally, Jesus has recently been appointed as an Area 3 Board of Trustee for San Joaquin County Office of Education. His efforts in reducing crime, tackling homelessness, and fostering local business development have left a lasting impact on Stockton.
As the son of Mexican immigrants, Jesús grew up working in his family’s agricultural business, later becoming the first in his family to attend college at Sacramento State University where he earned his degree in philosophy and served as Student Body President. His career began with a prestigious fellowship in the California State Assembly, leading to a role with UnidosUS, a national Latino organization focused on economic development and education.
As Executive Director, Jesús will work with school and community partners to grow IYT’s programs, services, and impact. Jesús stated, “Having worked with IYT for the past few years, I am deeply honored to step into this new role as Executive Director for the Central Valley Region. Our mission to support and empower young men of color is more crucial than ever. I look forward to working with our dedicated team and community partners to create lasting change.”
Michael Lynch, CEO and Co-Founder of IYT, shared his enthusiasm, “Jesús has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to our mission. His deep ties to the community, combined with his expertise in public policy, philanthropy, and education, make him uniquely qualified to drive our initiatives forward in the Central Valley. We are excited to see the impact he will continue to make.
