"If life is a multiple choice experience, for too many young men of color, college, perhaps one of life's most enhancing alternatives, is a "none of the above" verdict. IYT, with its seasoned course of care, has shown that for many such students, it can make college an "all of the above" outcome."

I support IYT’s College Success Center because a sense of place is vitally important for identity, belonging, and community - for both the young men being served and the staff and volunteers who provide services and support. I believe the center will greatly facilitate and enhance the delivery of programs and resources, thus contributing to the success and fulfillment of IYT’s mission.

I support the college success center based on its intention of developing future leaders within the community, and doing so, by providing the right opportunity, valued mentoring and education, and access to resources that will enable. This center can help shape and grow the minds of our future black leaders, and change our mindset toward growth, and opportunity. Assisting these young men from a mindset of “I can’t” to a mindset of “I can, I will, I do” will propagate their personal and professional growth.

I am proud to support the College Success Center! As Warren Buffet said, “Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” Together, we are building the tree--- a new communal space that will support young men of color and their future endeavors. I believe everyone deserves acceptance and the opportunity to reach their full potential in life.

Darol and I support the College Success Center (Center) for many reasons. The Center can help bridge the opportunity gap faced by these young men by providing access to educational resources and mentorship, which is a powerful tool for social and economic mobility. The wellness initiatives can address the mental health challenges that disproportionately affect these young men, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for their personal growth and success. The Center offers nutritious food and access to computers, removing barriers to learning and enabling these young men to fully engage in their educational pursuits. The Center offers a professional clothes closet and fitness opportunities, which can enhance these young men’s confidence, preparing them for job interviews and improving overall well-being, thus increasing their chances of long-term success. Last and most important, we support the local community. My husband is a graduate of Valley High School, and it is important to us to be involved by dedicating our efforts through mentorship, volunteering, networking, advocacy, and donations as well as inspiring others to join us in making a difference. - Darol and Elease Terry.
